Pearl Jam Fenway Park concert possible

A Pearl Jam Fenway Park concert could be in the works.

Boston Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein, an avowed Pearl Jam fan and friend of the band, was asked about the possibility of a Pearl Jam Fenway Park concert yesterday during a question-and-answer session with fans and the media.

"As soon as they start playing ballparks, we'll be first on the list," Epstein said, according to Boston.com.

But a Pearl Jam Fenway Park concert might not happen this year. The ballpark typically hosts just one headlining act each year, and New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys are already booked for two June concerts. (The one exception was in 2009, when Dave Matthews Band and Phish headlined separate shows in May, and Paul McCartney performed two concerts in August.)

Previous Fenway Park concerts have featured Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band in 2003, Jimmy Buffett in 2004, The Rolling Stones in 2005, DMB in 2006, The Police in 2007, Neil Diamond in 2008 and Aerosmith with J. Geils Band in 2010.

If more concrete information about a Pearl Jam Fenway Park concert becomes available, we'll bring it to you.
